Partnership Overview
What is the Bowater Windows Partnership?
The Bowater Windows Partnership is a strategic supply chain partnership set up under the LHC U7 programme to enable Bowater Windows to service clients on a national basis, using local proven expertise, and local labour.
Bowater Windows, joining with key partners, and in conjunction with the LHC, is now able to offer a full range of products and services to its usual exacting standards throughout the whole of the UK.
The supply chain group includes Bowater Windows covering the South of England, South Wales and the Midlands; Yorkshire Windows covering the East and North East of England; Warmseal covering the North East of England and Cumbria; Burley Windows covering the North West of England and North Wales, and Sidey covering Scotland. All use System 10 window and door profiles from WHS Halo. System 10 is a brand leading product that has been used by many of the major housing clients in the UK for over 20 years.
This opportunity has been created alongside the LHC and with their full support, to look at the demands of the market in the coming years. It provides the opportunity for clients large and small to buy into the technical expertise and procurement services of the LHC, whilst not losing sight of the importance of local supply, local service, and the use of local labour.
The arrangement has emerged from the changes in the public sector market in the last few years, and the findings of the Gershon Review, which has encouraged public sector bodies to look at alternative methods of procurement. The LHC is a long established body, and places particular emphasis on enabling clients to use its pre-tendered arrangements, whilst being able to access a full technical support service. The new Bowater Windows Partnership provides a great opportunity to maximise efficiencies further by using the local supply route, with all the benefits of a national procurement arrangement.
Immediate Success
The Bowater Windows partnership has achieved immediate success with a number of clients buying into the concept of being able to buy locally, yet in line with government thinking in terms of the method of procurement. It is expected that many more clients will buy into this unique arrangement in the near future, and benefit from the innovative creation of Bowater Windows in partnership with the LHC.
